Hmmm… I don’t know where you are located and yes this might seem a tad bit crazy but hey, that’s life for you. I wonder what you look like. What you like to do for fun. I wonder when God will allow me to meet you, to know you are the one. I wonder what’s your favorite color? By the way mine is red. I’m exhausted and just about ready for bed. But I decided to write to you. Whoever you are. There are times when I get lonely like today. All I can do is pray for strength and patience for you to be prepared for me and I for you. I hope to meet you soon. For now this is where I’ll end.

New Moon

I went to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and saw a preview to New Moon. Now I wasn’t eager to read the Twilight Saga. I kind of just came across it and decided to give in only to be sucked into the story. This was about 1 or 2 years ago. I read all the books in a matter of weeks and loved them all. Every girl dreams of finding a man that can love her that way, treat her that way, want her that way.

Now books are always supposed to be better than the movie. That’s a known fact. Books get you so much more involved with the characters than movies are capable of doing. Plus reading for 8 hours and watching a movie for 8 hours is totally different. When the movie Twilight came out I was pretty excited. I told myself it was  going to go either really good or really bad. After watching the preview of Twilight on YouTube I knew that it was going to steer towards really bad.

I’m big on detail and I believe something can be rendered in a subtle manner and still carry significant meaning. So to all those who argue that bringing more detail/passion to the movie would have made it too long, I disagree 100%. The length would have been barely affected if there had just been attention to detail and emotion. As I tell all my friends, there is a big difference with the way I touch my friends hand and the way I touch the hand of someone I’m in love with. Just as you can walk down a strip and make a good guess as to who is dating, whose in love, and who are just friends, you should be able to do the same watching a movie.

The movie lacked feeling. I didn’t like the flat emotion portrayed by the actors. I honestly think I would have liked the movie so much more if Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) convinced me that they were actually in love.  I didn’t feel that passion and love that was portrayed in the book and in many of our imaginations. I also felt that the movie was very choppy. I went with a friend of mine and there were a few times that he asked me what was going on because the movie almost seemed to assume the viewer had read the book. So of course after watching the movie I was quite disappointed.

Finally the movie was supposed to be a love story not a comedy.

Now the preview to New Moon came up and I already knew it was going to be much like the first. One of the most traumatic, heartbreaking parts of the book (when Edward leaves) was shown in the preview. Once again I felt that the emotions in the book just didn’t show in the preview. Talk about frustration. The movies just don’t give the book justice. Will I watch New Moon? Yes, I almost feel obligated to watch them all and give the movie another chance. Will it be good? I can’t say for sure but at the rate it’s going… I doubt it.

Last place for the good girls

So I read my good friend Lilly Valentin’s Blog and I had actually been thinking about all that just this past week and here is my rendition of her blog. My ideas were inspired by her and what she said in her blog.

Good girls, the best girls time and time again do finish last. Because men seem to want the nice apple at the top of the tree but tend to stick with the bumped and bruised ones at the very bottom. The worthy girls are the ones that stick by these supposed men day in and day out, through the mistakes, the screw ups, the tears, and the pain.

Sometimes I wonder if men think at all… Men want the “nice girls”, give them the nice girl and they look the other way. Give them the nice girl and they screw up and mess up their chance. Give them the opposite and they wonder where they went wrong, what did they do to deserve the mess.

Men… keep in mind the good girls won’t be there forever sitting in front of you like an idiot because YOU ALL seem just not to get it. They’ll be there as the good friend as always but once you lose that chance… it’s lost. So don’t be afraid to be afraid, because they are too. Don’t be afraid to wear your emotions on your sleeve, to let them in, because they’ve already done it. When you come across a good girl, a keeper be smart about it. They say practice makes perfect, well all those whores, sluts, uncompassionate, mind-playing girls are practice so when that good girl comes along you don’t screw up. Yet you all seem not to get it still, because again and again you men mess up the best thing you probably ever had.

When she’s right in front of you… are you smart about it and make her yours, treat her right or continue to screw up and play games?! What gets me is this… Men say they want good girls yet like Lilly said the moment the good girl is there men come up with all sorts of excuses. I’m not ready, I can’t settle down yet, I have too much going on… blah blah blah blah blah. Now I know you all have brains so answer me this… If you’re not ready then why’d you date the bad girl, why’d you sleep with her, make her yours. Haha because she’s the slut, the easy one? Or because you just can’t take the challenge us good girls bring to the table?

So make a decision… the good girl or the other one, the girl of your dreams or the nightmare. You cannot have both, it just doesn’t work that way. I can say I am proud to be a good girl, as are all the other good girls out there. So I’ll tell you how I feel, so I’m not easy, so I’m not a slut, so I’ll be the best friend, the shoulder to cry on, the one whose been there from the beginning… I rather be that than anything else. You tell me how you feel and I’ll be honest. You tell me you like me and I’ll respond. Break my heart and I won’t fall for it again. You all may laugh and call me stupid, I just laugh and call you all insane. Because the person who doesn’t want to fall in love, to find that perfect person, to find true happiness is lying to themselves.

There comes a point where you need to decide… so go on and make a decision

UPDATE:

in response to you all… because some seem to miss the point of this blog. This blog applies to both male and female, in my case I’m the girl I like guys so my blog is aimed towards guys but guys could change around the gender and it would apply to them too. It’s to all the good people out there, genuinely good people who never seem to be able to find the right one because the other person is either A. hurt to the point of no return, B. they don’t acknowledge you or C. they take you for granted.

This is not to say there aren’t good guys out there for girls or good girls out there for guys. There are. But people don’t pick and choose who they fall for, you kind of just fall for that person for whatever reason.. Be it their personality, looks, good qualities. A friend told me in response to my entry that sometimes good girls are approached by good guys and the good girls don’t want that good guy. Well like I said earlier, people don’t choose who they fall for, it kind of just happens. Feelings and emotions are uncontrollable for the most part and there are going to be people in your life that like you for whatever reason it might be and you are just unable to return those feelings back. It’s not at all your fault that you can’t. It’s like trying to make someone enjoy something they just don’t like. I don’t like carrots. No matter what kind of dressing or topping you put on it at the end of the day I still don’t like carrots. I can’t explain why I don’t like them, I just don’t. So there are some good guys out there that just aren’t compatible with some good girls.

Now that that is out of the way.

To better clarify myself, this blog was referring to those times when girl likes guy, guy likes girl but guy decides to go with the other girl who turns out to be a mistake to then years later realize that the first girl was meant for him. In some cases guy goes to first girl and it’s not too late. In other cases guy goes to first girl and she already has another guy. And in others although girl has another guy she leaves that guy to be with the first. There are different ways the story can end. I am far from pessimistic, this was just a reaction to a frustration that was building up because I hope it all doesn’t end like this. At the end of the day, all you can do is be patient and let things take their course. Be prepared for anything and everything that comes your way and if he/she decide to pick that other guy/girl… Shrug it off, keep it moving. It’s truly their loss.

Love… feared yet wanted the most

Love stories, romantic movies, a thing feared the most and wanted the most. To simply fall in love. One thing I could proudly say I did not believe in. Love yes but falling IN love.. HA.

So many years it takes to build love. When it’s right in front of you, do you grab onto it or let it go and walk the other way?

Everything else fading to black.

No words to describe such a thing. Falling in love….

Different world.

Laying down and talking about anything and everything, late night talks until 4 a.m., invading each others space, knowing that you need that person in your life.

It’s when you can kiss someone and not get tired of them, of their kisses. Each kiss feels new and different. Being able to mess up and laugh about it. Not being able to imagine anger or frustration. Their touch so right. Never wanting to leave.

Sometimes you don’t realize all this. How important and amazing that person is and was.

It’s when you look at them and all you can do is smile and giggle and laugh. Seeing their imperfections and craziness as amazing, far from annoying or odd.

Wishing time would freeze and that moment can be extended for……

You can’t keep your hands to yourself. Just because you want to touch them, feel their skin against yours. And the more you see them, the more you wish days were longer. Getting tired of them is something not even on your mind.

Love is a scary yet amazing thing.

That’s what falling in love is.. haha at least that’s what everyone seems to say…

Psychotropic Drugs Increase

This is a paper I had to write for my Abnormal Psychology summer class…

My thoughts on the dramatic increase of psychotropic drugs:

Our society today continues to change drastically compared to years and even decades ago. We live in a society that wants things done fast and easy. The thing is, fast and easy is not always the best and most effective means of doing things. With technology skyrocketing, people tend to depend more on new technology fixing their problems while disregarding the steps taken to get there. To them, the faster the problem is solved the better.

I believe that this is a reason why there has been such an increase of psychotropic drugs. Not because it is necessarily the most effective but because media portrays it as the most sensible, simple, and fastest means of treatment. No one ever seems to want to get to the core of the problem. In society today, giving an individual medications for whatever problem they might have, would be equivalent to taking pain medicine every time we scraped our knee no matter how severe the scrap.

Living in a fast paced community means no one has time to sit down and talk. People become too busy for themselves which may result in the popularity of psychotropic drugs. In my opinion, taking medication is not even a means of problem solving. It is to avoid having to solve the problem. Medication should be the last resort for any type of behavior.  Media plays a big role in everyday life and I believe media is another reason why there has been such an increase in psychotropic drugs. Media portrays abnormal behavior as normal and makes the behavior seem like it is an everyday thing. People are watching these commercials and ads and are assuming that they must have depression or ADD because they are sad or cannot concentrate. Yet people do not realize that it is normal to be sad or to not be able to concentrate. That does not necessarily mean they are depressed or that they have ADD.

Then, like we talked about in class, there are the cases of some patients going to their doctors and informing their doctors that they feel a specific way and want specific medication like they saw on T.V. A lot of the times, the doctor won’t even hesitate to  prescribe medicine because once that medication is prescribed that means the patient is happy, the doctor gets paid, and the problem is “fixed”.

All this goes to show that people do not cope well with their problems. If people were able to sit down, slow life down and really take a look at their lives, we probably would not have as many people dependant on medication but as long as fast means convenient things will most likely continue to be the same.

Illegal Immigration

Today’s blog was inspired by my political science class.

Illegal Immigration

I watched a video in class a couple weeks back regarding illegal immigration. The video focused on Las Vegas, Nevada. As everyone knows “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” Who knew this phrase would turn out to be quite literal.

Las Vegas is the fastest growing metropolitan. Therefore there are many immigrants working there.

The population increases at a dramatic rate, which means there is a high demand for workers. There is believed to be around 50,000 illegal immigrants and that is safely under guessing. There can easily be more than 50,000.

How do people feel about illegal immigrants?

Well… the cops of Nevada seem to just have accepted it. Many companies hiring also seem to accept it. They need workers and since the illegal immigrants have documents, even if they are illegal documents, the companies seem just not to care. As long as they are there to work, then there are no questions asked.

So why are people concerned?  What is making all this newsworthy?

One of the biggest concerns seems to be that the illegal immigrants are taking away the jobs of the unemployed. Especially now with the economic crisis, unemployment rates seem to continue to rise. So is it fair for illegal immigrants to “take away jobs?” Well.. according to the video, employers feel that the jobs that the illegal immigrants are taking are jobs no one else seem to want.

Another concern is that an illegal immigrant can turn out to be a terrorist. There can be higher increased levels of crime because of drug trafficking. Obama actually went over to Mexico to try and resolve this issue.

Since there are so many illegal immigrants in the U.S., what should be done now?

How should the United States address this issue and concern? Should they be kicked out or should they be helped? (become citizens)
Some students in my class believe that companies should enforce the policy. A way to do that is to cut their fundings until all workers are legal citizens. How do you find out if they are illegal or not? Well that means that every employers documentation would have to be checked and verified. THis is costly and timley. Another similar solution is to remove funding from the state or city itself until the whole population is legal and citizens. Again this is timely, costly, and a bit unrealistic.

If some sort of action is taken, will this cause an uproar? Maybe even chaos or retaliation?

So much money was put into building that wall for the borders between Mexico and U.S.A. Some questions the students wanted to know was…

How do they (Illegal immigrants) continue to cross over the border illegally? Is border patrol doing their job? Should border patrol be increased?

These are questions many are asking.

My opinion:

I beleive if a law or rule has been established, than it should be followed and respected. Many have had to go through a long process to become citizens. It vecomes very unfair for them to see others being able to get here and have to deal with less of a hassle.I am not against immigrants at all. I love the diveristy and different cultures that have come to be in U.S.A. I just think it should be done the right way. If you want to live here and are from another country, then by all means come but do it the right way by becomines a citizen. We cannot start breaking laws or rules made in this country. It will just create chaos. United States has become so leniant and has tried to be the Super Hero by saving so many other countries. But look at the mess we are in now with the economic crisis. We can’t go helping other countries until we first help ourselves.

Live Life

I believe everyone should live their life according to these lyrics. God is amazing and has so many wonderful things for us. We just need to give Him the keys and let Him take control of our lives, then everything else will fall into place. Because it says in the bible that God will give us many blessings and we will live with abundance, as long as He is our center.

The act of being humble and contrite

In adult youth today my group discussed the word Contrite. Contrite meaning to be humbled. Another synonym for Contrite is broken, smashed, wounded.

Contrite is necessary for growth and without a contrite heart or spirit, a person won’t be prepared for God’s Kingdom.

To be contrite is to be aware and accept that God is in control of everything that goes on in our lives. EVERYTHING!

A contrite heart gets special attention from God.

Isaiah 57:15

For this is the word of him who is high and lifted up, whose resting-place is eternal, whose name is Holy: my resting-place is in the high and holy place, and with him who is crushed and poor in spirit, to give life to the spirit of the poor, and to make strong the heart of the crushed.

Isaias 57:15

Porque asi dijo el Alto y Sublime, el que habita la eternidad, y cuyo nombre es el Santo: Yo habito en la altura y la santidad, y con el quebrantado y humilde de espiritu, para hacer vivir el espiritu de los humildes, y para vivificar el corazon de los quebrantados.

God restores a crushed spirit of the humble and brings a broken/hurt person back to life spiritually. God restoring a crushed spirit is like water revitalizing a dying plant.

Contrite in Arab is Dakka meaning crushed and pulverized

Remember that a crushing event of life doesn’t make us contrite.

In the midst of a problem one of two things will happen:

A. A person will become bitter, angry, or full of resentment
—> If anger is held in for a long time, it is possible that the anger can become sin.
or
B. You become contrite which leads to repentance
—>A contrite person understands they are not in control .

1 Samuel 18: 6-12

David made his mistakes, but in the midst of it all, he genuinely turned to God.

• Penitence : sorrows for sins and faults. Regret for ones misdeeds.

• Regret: Painful sting of conscious; contemplative wrong doing; action accompanied by guilt.

• Remorse: Suggest prolonged and insistent self reproach; mental anguish especially for those consequences that cannot be remedied.

• Repented: feelings of walking on thorns. You want to change your action; you have made that decision

Psalms 51:1-7

David was aware of his crushed and broken state, he was aware that he had sinned. He felt guilty because he truly was guilty and he expressed all this through that song (Psalms 57: 1-7)

The only hope for a person who sins is the mercy of God. God wants to dwell with those that have a contrite heart.

10 For the sorrow which God gives is the cause of salvation through a change of heart, in which there is no reason for grief: but the sorrow of the world is a cause of death.

Pain that God approves results in repentance which leads to salvation.

It is not Satan who is our problem, It is God who is our problem

Meaning: People who are being used by God are people who have been lunged at by God, cracked by God. God has done something to them.

Ex: Joe went through a lot of tough times and still God gave him many blessings

In scripture, Brokenness is a spiritual state by which one is disarmed by ones self dependence and pride, leaving one disabled and in desperate need of help. Making one a conduit ( carries something out) for the Glory of Christ.

Psalms 34: 15-18

15 The eyes of the Lord are on the upright, and his ears are open to their cry.

16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to take away the memory of them from the earth.

17 The cry of the upright comes before the Lord, and he takes them out of all their troubles.

18 The Lord is near the broken-hearted; he is the saviour of those whose spirits are crushed down.

Salmos 15-18

15 Los ojos de Jehová están sobre los justos, Y atentos sus oídos al clamor de ellos.

People should be asking themselves what is their purpose not why are they here.

We must live our lives according to Luke 9, and we must pick up our cross daily.

God is fully aware of our limitations. He will never make us endure anything that he knows we cannot handle.

Keep in mind that the righteous do not always escape trouble. Everyone will go through hardships.

God promises us that if we trust Him and call on Him, He will be there and help us.

It is an eternal fact that He is going to be with us and He assures us that he is near us always.

To have a contrite spirit, one must be open to God’s correction and be able to accept the correction and take the necessary changes.

Sorry there is no real flow to all of this but I typed it out just like my group leader spoke it.

So I have decided to make this particular blog site the place where I am going to post ideas or random thoughts but go into depth with them. As I said in my other blog :
